Tangrams

Tan grams are very easy. You have different shapes and you have to make up what the picture shows you. I had to make a bird, boat and a man. The hardest tangram was the man and the easiest tangram was the bird.

Building blocks

In this game you have to build stuffs with cubes. There is a platform where you build and a picture of what you have to build. This game is very easy because all you have to do is  memories where the shapes go.

This week for math we revised our 3D shapes. We spent 2 days working on 3D and 2D shapes. We had to draw lots of different shapes such as a cube, cylinder, cone and other shapes. I learnt that the tip of a pyramid is called a vertex.

Sports camp

Sports camp this year will be very interesting. It will be interesting because there will be schools that we have never versed before. This year I want us to get more than 7 trophies. I reckon that we will win rugby, softball, volleyball, wall ball, soccer, touch, triathlon, basketball, indoor soccer, table tennis, chess, athletics, petanque and caged soccer.  We have been training hard in these codes so I hope that we do good in them. This year we won’t know what schools are good and what schools are bad at sport. I think i will be valuable in touch, soccer, athletics, basketball, cross country, hockey, softball and volleyball.

Maths

This week for math my group was working on a fraction worksheet. We were working on equivalent fractions. It is easy because it is just like simplifying fractions. Then we put the fractions in it's simplest form. The hardest thing was filling in the gaps with = or ?.

Math

For this week in math time we have been learning stage 8. To me stage 8 is easy.  In stage 8 you use these symbols < > = and percentage. We convert decimals into percentage. In stage 8 my score out of 40 was 37. If you want to play click the link Prototec. It is not only stage 8 . It goes down all the way to stage 2.

Fractions

In math this week we have been learning fractions. We have been learning to convert improper fractions in to mixed fractions.You have to divide the numerator by the denominator. Write down the whole number answer . Then write down any remainder above the denominator. For example  31/3 into mixed fractions is 10 and 1/3

After that my group work on a fraction work sheet.

Problem solving

We had to help our partner in math from group 1. We had to help with problem solving. They had to work it out in addition and more. This is the problems that they had to do.

1. Trains Jason makes a train from a green rod, a yellow rod and a black rod. Kim makes her train from a green rod, a black rod and a blue rod? Who has the longest train?

2. Visiting Grandma Jane is going to see her Grandma in 6 days from now. If today is 23rd April what day will she see her Grandma?

Kapa Haka math

This week we were working on kapa haka. This book is about addition. This book is easy because I know my addition. In this book we had to add all the scores and see who has the most and see who has the least. I finished it and worked on Hard times.

Writing

In writing we have being writing about WW1. We have being looking at the picture then we brain stormed . After that we chose 3 of our powerful words. Then made that into 3 little paragraphs. This is the photo that we used. 

This is one of the sentences I wrote with my powerful word. 

The young men only had a little bit of training. When they got into battle they were 
scared and traumatized when they saw their friends dying.

 

Topics

In topic we have been learning about chemical reactions. So far we have been watching a couple of videos on you tube. But our focus was on what makes chemical reactions.We have been working on our KWL chart on chemical reactions. Most chemical reactions are created by mixing with water, fire and other chemicals.

Math week 3

Power numbers are easy for me because I have been doing power numbers constantly. For example I have been playing a game and you can play it by clicking here.  http://www.mathnook.com/math/pyramidmath.html. This game has help me improve my knowledge of power numbers.

Speedy types

In math I was learning how to time. I was timing how fast I can write 10 lines from a chapter book. I can write 10 lines in 5 minutes and 54 seconds. Then I had to see how much words I can write in 1 minute. I can write 54 words in 1 minute.

2015 looks like a good year

Hi my name is Siua and it is now 2015.This is my last year at Glen Innes school. Next year I will be going to Tamaki College. I am in room 12. In room 12 we are learning about Self--awareness and Self--Advocacy. Self--awareness is about the good things and the bad things about yourself. Self--Advocacy is the things when you look at  the bad things and changing them from bad to good.

I am looking forward to studying for a good report for college.

Saying good bye

What I learned this year:

 This year trying new sports was fun such as; Croquet and Lawn bowls.

What I could've done better:

This year I started off doing my school work. It continued through out the year. In term 4 I did not keep my attitude in place so I got a bad report.  

Writing was my hardest subject in school. It was my hardest because I did not focus.

What I liked about this year:

 Going into another class - In 2014 I went to room 12. It was really fun and I made lots of new friends.  Sports camp was a good experiences. It was fun and we came fifth out of the whole thing.

What I am looking forward to next year:

Next year I am going to try and change my attitude.

Reflections 2014

What a busy year. Each term was a blast. In term one it was all about sports. We went to Swimming, Cricket and Softball. We came 1st  in all of our sports.

In term 2 we only played netball. But unfortunately we came 3rd.

In term 3 we had visitors from E.R.O. Then we practiced sports so that we can go to sports camp. We arrived we were happy. It was a lot of fun.

Term 4 we had touch rugby. The year 5 came 4th, The year 6 came 3rd, The year 7 came 2nd The year 8 came 1st. Tomorrow we have athletics. Next week is the last week.

2014 WAS THE BEST YEAR OF MY LIFE.

Billy bug

WALT: match the co-ordinates on the graph In this game you have to feed billy the bug. This game was easy because I knew my co-ordinates. Horizontal is the x axis and vertical is the y axis.

Equivalent Fish

W.A.L.T: Solve problems with fractions.

In this game you have to choose a fish to eat. If you eat the wrong fish you will lose points. This game helps with making fractions in its simplest form and equivalent fractions. The game was challenging for me because I did not know some of the questions. Next I would like to learn to decimal fractions.
